Account Director

Account Director

The Account Director is primarily responsible for maintaining account performance and profitability. This position reports to the Vice President and will directly supervise an account team of 3 to 5 employees. The ideal candidate must be strategic, highly-organized, a strong leader and service oriented.

 

Key Responsibilities

Client relations

  • Develop strategic branding and communications campaigns for clients
  • Manage client relationships to promote growth and client satisfaction
  • Ensure account teams are adequately staffed and meet client expectations
  • Ensure projects stay within contracted scope, timeline and budget
  • Keep clients apprised of project progress on a regular basis; lead client meetings and conference calls
  • Develop long term relationships with key client representatives and identify new business opportunities
  • Proofread and edit client documents; assist in the creation of proposals
  • Meet multiple and concurrent deadlines, individually and as an account team
  • Record time worked on a daily basis
  • Other tasks as needed for successful project completion

Media relations

  • Develop, plan and manage social media initiatives through Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other social media platforms; oversee team’s proficiency in understanding social media
  • Initiate contact with online and print publication editors to facilitate advantageous placement of client articles and releases
  • Initiate strategic media relations activities such as planning, article placement, pitching and press release development
  • Identify and facilitate editorial and speaking opportunities

Business development

  • Seek out and lead new business opportunities with new and existing clients
  • Keep apprised of relevant client, industry and market developments
  • Attend industry events, trade shows or other related networking events

Team support

  • Manage, motivate and coach team members
  • Conduct performance review; provide measurable objectives that align with and support organizational goals
  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork abilities
  • Lead - Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the agency

Requirements

  • At least 7 years experience in a PR agency, ideally with a B2B focus
  • Bachelors Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • Current knowledge of healthcare environment and healthcare technology with the ability to speak and write intelligently on these topics
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Experience managing staff as well as project budgets
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • Advanced skills in client-management and strong project-management skills
  • Exemplary writing skills
  • Strong work ethic and proactive mindset
  • Proven media relations expertise
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Outgoing personality; ability to effectively interact with team members
