Microblogging – A form of blogging which only allows the author to post short, text-message style entries. Often these short posts link to a longer article, picture or multimedia site which expands on the post.
Currently, Twitter is the preeminent site for microblogging, but other sites such as Tumblr, Plurk and Jaiku also provide a platform for this type of communication. MySpace, LinkedIn and Facebook also provide a form of microblogging through status updates.
As with blogs and other Internet connect, microblogging is in a state of transition with the recent release Robo.to, which is a micovideo platform. The site allows users to create four-second videos, which act as a visual status update.
