mHealth – mHealth, or mobile health, is the term that has been applied to medical and public health practice supported by mobile devices. mHealth applications include tools that can perform a number of different functions, including the ability to collect community health data, deliver healthcare information to practitioners and patients, provide emergency response systems and monitor vital signs. The appeal for this mobile technology is that it’s just that: mobile. This allows individuals to communicate with each other without the normal boundaries and limitations that typically would face a healthcare provider. For this reason, mobile health technology is also becoming popular in poorer developing countries, where the prevalence of mobile devices, and the continually decreasing cost of mobile communication, is allowing these countries to keep up with some of the most cutting edge technologies.
