#hcsm – The hashtag #hcsm is used by members of the Healthcare Communications & Social Media community to create dialogue on Twitter. By ending your tweets with this hashtag, anyone who is looking will know that you have something to say about how social media is used in the healthcare space. Members of the community include participants from hospitals, physician practices, government agencies, universities and PR/marketing firms, and each contributor brings a different perspective to the conversation. A quick Twitter search for #hcsm will uncover a multitude of tweets on how healthcare and social media come together.
In addition to the ongoing conversation, there are regularly scheduled live “chats” via Twitter every Sunday night. By searching for the hashtag #hcsm and refreshing your page, you can keep up with and contribute to the conversation on Twitter as it is unfolding. The Sunday conversations are moderated by @HealthSocMed (AKA @danamlewis, college student and creator of the #hcsm community), and anyone can suggest discussion topics beforehand.
