zPatient makes it easy for patients to make and track doctor’s appointments, pay bills, see x-rays, review medical histories, find medical records, and even submit refill requests for medications. Essentially, it’s a go-between for patients and doctors that makes every aspect of care more patient-friendly. More recently, zPatient is now offered as a mobile app for more streamlined communication between patients and physicians; an aspect of mobile health that continues to experience rapid growth. zPatient helps make the healthcare process more patient-friendly while ensuring patient security, a common challenge that the ever-expanding mobile health industry commonly faces. Additionally, zPatient demonstrates Meaningful Use through easier patient-physician facilitation that the app embraces. It will be interesting to see what other challenges and opportunities new health apps will create for the mobile health movement as it progresses.
