mTBI: mTBI: is an app that can be used as a resource for people suffering from mild traumatic brain injury, a condition that may cause communication and cognitive issues. The app’s name is an acronym for “Mild Traumatic Brain Injury” and is used by clinicians as a reference to recognize and manage patients’ symptoms. mTBI features interactive decision trees which help identify the best interventions for patients and includes key features such as the ICD-9 coding wizard – an excellent documentation tool for providers. Additionally, the mTBI Pocket Guide reflects current clinical standards of care, including guidelines from the U.S. Department of Defense. As the digital and mobile health trends continues to surge, it will be interesting to see which other health apps will include documentation guidelines. Although mTBI is primarily used by military personnel, it could also be beneficial to other consumers and potentially decrease their healthcare costs with better preventative care.
