Word of the week: Inbound links
Inbound links are simply links from one site to another. These links are crucial from an SEO perspective, as they heighten a website’s PageRank, which measures the level of importance for a site. Most SEO experts will tell you that inbound links are the single most important strategy for achieving high page rankings. If companies receive multiple inbound links from other sites, they will have a much stronger Internet presence and likely develop a strong following. Hubspot puts it nicely when they describe inbound links as the “currency” of the Internet, as a website with many inbound links will always rank higher in search engines. While having links on multiple sites is great, there must be strategy behind your company’s linking. Each inbound linking partner should align with the mission of your company and be a legitimate website that has a strong following consisting of your target audience. There are several metrics that determine the value of inbound links; among these metrics are the trustworthiness of the linking domain, the popularity of the linking page, the relevancy of the content, the anchor text used in the link and the amount of domains that link to the target page. Overall, inbound links increase website traffic, improve SEO and support public relations strategies.
