Word of the week: HealthVault

By Word of the Week on January 4th, 2013

It's no surprise to anyone in the healthcare industry that the mhealth movement continues to explode. With the implementation of digital health and mobile adoption, mhealth provides consumers with cost savings. One health app that not only provides consumers with easier access to healthcare but also allows them to store personal health-related information in a secure manner is the HealthVault app from Microsoft. HealthVault is a free and trusted place where you can store, organize and share health information online with a password encrypted account. Additionally, other popular health apps such as iTriage and Whatsmym3, which permit users to assess medical symptoms and determine if a doctor’s visit is necessary, work in conjunction with HealthVault, making it even easier for consumers to access all of their healthcare information in one place while lowering healthcare costs. As 2013 begins, it will be interesting to see what other mobile applications and platforms will arrive and what health benefits they can provide to further create efficiencies within our healthcare system.
