Word of the week: GenieMD

By Word of the Week on March 22nd, 2013

The wealth of mhealth apps currently available to consumers only continues to grow. One of the more recent personal mhealth apps now available is GenieMD- a personal medical assistant app that tracks and securely and conveniently stores your health profile. As a personal healthcare assistant, GenieMD varies from other health applications in that it features multiple health management tools rolled into one app, fully encompassing the concept of personal health management. GenieMD even integrates with the FDA to directly notify users of any medication concerns, adverse reactions, as well as drug interactions you may have encountered. Mobile health apps have been a cause of concern for the FDA as they have tried to regulate medical app processes. In fact, the third congressional hearing on the FDA’s regulation of mobile medical apps just wrapped up this week. Perhaps if more apps had FDA integration capability, the mHealth movement would grow at even faster rate.
