Word of the week: AuthorRank
AuthorRank is a new Google search engine optimization (SEO) search method in which the author is a code attribute that displays an author’s image and information in search results. Used in conjunction with PageRank, the Google algorithm which determines page authority based on how many times a page is linked to other websites and by the authority of the website linking to it, AuthorRank works like a reputation engine that will establish which individuals are creating high quality content. One issue with SEO is that many search engines currently operate by relying heavily on links; in this method, sites offer valued content which are highly rated by other people. However, links can be manipulated in various ways, allowing low-quality content to receive high ranked results. AuthorRank works by giving Google another variable to ensure that only respected and authoritarian content populates as a high ranking result. Although the search method is relatively new, AuthorRank has the potential to change the way content providers are getting ranked and ultimately make SEO marketing more accurate and effective by allowing for a more trustworthy and efficient way of ranking search results.
