According to Neil Versel’s Healthcare IT Blog, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gave $1.2 million to the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) to help create e-health iniatives and training around the world, specifically for health informatics and biomedical education. The goal is to connect physicians and medical care givers in developing countries and rural areas to AMIA-affliated physicians so that the a greater quality of care is given to all world citizens.
