Turntable.fm: For fans of Pandora who want to have a more active role in the music they are hearing, Turntable.fm is a unique, social music experience. Upon visiting the site and logging in through Facebook, users are given a list of rooms to join in order to begin listening to music. These rooms are all created by individuals, can be public or private, and cater to any and every genre you can think of. Once in the room of your choice, you immediately hear the music that the DJs of that room are playing. Most rooms have five slots for DJs, so if there is an opening, you can take a seat behind the turntable and contribute to the playlist. Otherwise, users can just “hang out” in the room and listen to the selections of others. DJs have access to the extensive library of streaming music offered through Turntable.fm, or they can upload their own tracks from their hard drives for use on the site.
